Mautz/Wagner Farm History
Our Farm History: This is truly a family owned and operated farm. In 1838 the Mautz ancestors settled at this location in Marion County, Ohio. Today, our generation is the sixth generation to operate this farm. The farm came into Mautz ownership when Walter Mautz's (our Grandfather) Great Grandfather, Gottleib Mautz came in a sailboat from Germany with his parents to Marion County, Ohio in 1838. His purchase contained 80 acres of woods, and 60 acres of meadow. Gottleib's son John purchased the land after his fathers death for $45/ acre. John Mautz and his wife raised 1 girl and 7 boys, one of which was Wesley (Ed) Edward Mautz. Ed was Walter's father and took over the farm in 1915. Ed purchased an additional 40 acres. His son Walter (our Grandfather) was born in 1900. Walter was raised on this farm and continued to operate the farm with his wife Fannie, and 2 children, Charles & Rosemary (our Mother) until his passing in 1999, during which Allen (Walter's Grandson) began his farming and hog business known to day as "Wagner Farm Pork." In memory and to honor our Grandfather, Grandmother, and our Mother's (Rosemary Mautz Wagner) wishes, it is our strong desire to keep this century farm together in hopes of the 7th generation and beyond farming it in the future.
Our Location: We welcome customers to come directly to our farm and purchase our products at our on farm store at 2511 Firstenberger Rd. Marion, Ohio.
