JUNIOR SHOWS

The Montadale Sheep Breeders’ Association supports its Junior Association with a charity auction each year following the annual banquet held in conjunction with the National Show & Sale in Springfield, Illinois. Funds from the charity auction help support the following shows:

1.    Junior National Montadale Show - Springfield, Illinois – mid-June

Held in conjunction with the National Montadale Show & Sale



2.    Regional Montadale Junior Show – Ozark Empire Fair, Springfield, MO

        - Held Late July

3.    Oregon State Fair Regional Montadale Show – Salem, Oregon

        - Held late August

4.    Keystone International Livestock Show Regional Montadale Show

- Harrisburg, PA - Early October

5.     Keith Crome National Show -  North American International Livestock Exposition,

         - Louisville, Ky – November

6.     All American Junior Show - See 2007 Results

Manteca Montadale Project:

In the Fall of 1997, 10 ewes from the Bill Turnquist flock were donated by various Montadale breeders to the Manteca, California School Farm. The farm which serves three high schools also has a small flock of wether type ewes. 22 head of Montadales were shown at the 2000 California State Fair Junior Show by various students. Pat Ariaz oversees the project.

Arrangements have been made to transport donated ewes from the 2000 North American Show to Manteca. Breeders who are interested in donating a bred ewe, ewe lamb, or stud ram should contact M.S.B.A.

National Montadale Junior Stud Ram Project:

The National Montadale Junior Stud Ram Project implemented in 1996 allows junior members one free breeding service on every female purchased in the national Show & Sale at Springfield. For rules and list of participating breeders contact the association office at info@montadales.com

Breeders who wish to participate in this project may add their name to this list at any time. Email us info@montadales.com

Note: For purposes of this project, the term “breeder” is the person providing the breeding service. For registration purposes, the “breeder” is the owner of the ewe at the time of service. Click below for information about this new program.
