BLACKIE'S SUFFOLKSOur Sheep Flock History:

Sheep have always been found on the farm since the Blackie Farmstead was established in 1916.  We started our commercial flock in the early 1980’s  and  have wintered  flocks up to 100 ewes in the mid 1990’s. This winter we have a flock of 70 ewes, 40 of which are purebred Suffolk. In building up our purebred Suffolk flock we have purchased ewes and rams from 3 very reputable  purebred sheep breeders.

BLACKIE'S SUFFOLKSAbout The Blackie Flock:

     We plan to work towards a flock of 75 purebred Suffolks.

     Our flock has strong British breeding.

     Our main emphasis is on productivity, including maternal factors, growth, and longevity of our flock as well as yours.

     We are enrolled in the GenOvis Sheep Program.

     We lamb once a year starting March 1st .

     Sheep and lambs are raised on pasture.

     Lambs are finished on whole grains and supplement in the fall if needed.

     At present we supply over 50 lambs to our local freezer trade we have built over the years.

For Information on  availability of breeding stock  and prices you may contact us via email, fax , or phone. 

We have yearling rams for sale and ram lambs for sale this fall.  Also we will have a limited number of purebred ewe lambs and crossbred ewe lambs for sale on a first come first served basis.
